Trends change quickly in cannabis, which is unfortunate because the manufacturing time takes a minimum of 4 months to create 1g of finished flower. We treat the cannabis genetics development process using the agile project management methodology that many software companies use for product development. Cannabis genetics are first selected for testing in our facility by a committee made up of sales and cultivation representatives. The selection process takes into account real-time data of the cultivars being grown across the state at all quality levels as well as an analysis of the cultivars being offered by the nurseries across the state to ensure that we are not selecting cannabis genetics that will be widely available to consumers. Our cultivation team analyzes the lineage of the genetics to develop the recipe for growing each test.
During the cultivation stage of the cannabis genetics development process, we take plant tissue sample tests to measure the macro and micro nutrient levels of the cannabis genetics through each major stage of the Veg and Flower process. Our propagation team is simultaneously building out the mother stock for each Pheno of each cultivar. Once the initial test is completed and we have the minimal viable product for each cultivar, we take it to our distribution channels for feedback on structure, color, nose, taste, effect, and pricing. We then analyze this data together with yield metrics to determine if the cultivar will go into full production. Cultivars that are already in full production are analyzed after every batch to determine their desirability, profitability, and continued use.
Quality and yield are driven by the strength of Cannabis genetics. To start with the strongest Cannabis genetics possible it is important to use the healthiest genetics available. We incorporate onsite hop latent viroid testing on all of our mother stock prior to any cutting event. We also use a third-party outside testing lab to verify our onsite testing. We eliminate any positive mother plant from our garden so that we can start with the healthiest cuttings. We only use the healthiest top cuts from our mother stock for our production crop and we age out our mother stock while they are still in peak condition.
In addition, we take plant tissue tests through every major stage of the Veg and Flower process to make sure that our production crops maintain their optimal macronutrient and micronutrient levels.
